3 Ways to Hold Yourself Accountable and Stay Committed!

Being the CEO of your life and your business requires great commitment. When thinking about the word commitment it may put you in the mindset of relationships or possibly New Year's resolutions. Close, but I want to talk to you today about the commitment that you can make to yourself. How committed are you to your growing your business and your own mindset?

It takes a great commitment to run your business successfully. This may look something like daily sacrifices, losing sleep, and working harder than everyone else. Don't forget that there is a slight possibility of not ever being noticed. I want to remind you of something that helped change my thought process. Stop looking around for validation or seek praise from others during this time of growth. Just look in the mirror and smile. Because when you're doing something for yourself the only person that needs to notice the change is you.

The very 1st thing you have to do is set some tough, but realistic goals. If you are ready, then let's get committed!

I want you to think about things you can do right now that you know you will help you get to the next level. Perhaps you need to stop spending money. Maybe you need to eat better and exercise more. Or perhaps you just need to stop making excuses.

Commitment comes at all levels because of what you decide to be committed to. Recently I celebrated my third year of a meat-free lifestyle. Yes, I am officially a vegetarian. Three years ago I told myself that I wanted to stop eating meat. So for thirty days, I cut meat out of my diet. Then 30 days turned into 365 and here we are 1,095 days later. What I thought was a simple 30 challenge turned into a complete lifestyle change.

During this time I realized that I was fasting, praying, and searching for change. Not only for obvious reasons like being healthy or to respect the lives of animals. But for myself. Vegetarian food is actually delicious and affordable to make. But this post is not about being vegetarian. It's about using your MIND to create lifestyle changes.

But I will take a moment to share one of my favorite go-to vegetarian meals that I absolutely love.

Buffalo Tofu and Spicy Garlic Tacos!

It was easier than I thought. So I began to challenge myself to be committed to the changes I needed to make on the inside. Things like controlling my reactions, resisting old temptations, and cutting out excuses.

I've proven to myself that I can do anything I set my mind to.

And you can too!

You can choose to lose weight, stop smoking or even save money. You can also choose to rebuild your relationships, make new routines, and cre8te peace in your life. The key is to be committed to making it happen every single day.

My commitment to not eating meat I learned how to cook really great vegetarian meals. And as a result, I feel better I have more energy my thought process is clear and I found extreme peace and balance in my life. Now I'm not an expert, so I don't know that those last few benefits came from not eating meat anymore. But I will say that by putting myself first and being committed to sticking to this change I have become a better me. Some of the things you have to do in your life to be the CEO of BOTH your life and your business will require you to make commitments. And these are small commitments that you can make each day that will turn into routines and better habits. I have four things that you can commit yourself to each day to see growth and change in your life.

Number one - Be Committed to staying organized.

This works in both your home life and your business life. You may not realize it but having a clean workspace and a clean home will change things tremendously. Clutter actually acts as a distraction so if things aren't in their place you may tend to get more frustrated trying to find them. This is why organizing your files on your laptop keeping things in folders having dedicated notebooks and documentation processes for everything will help relieve so much stress.

The more things you can get organized and plan ahead for the better you can prepare to react to. For example, having a grocery list and being prepared with a menu for the week these things help you stay committed to staying on budget or eating a healthy lifestyle. And for your business if you plan and get organized you will find yourself feeling confident in your business You will find yourself being more productive in your business and on both sides of the spectrum you will be happier.

Number two - Be committed to listening.

The ability to hold a conversation and be a clear communicator can be helpful in both your personal and business career. Being committed to this should be a high priority for everyone. Learning to listen has great benefits. It gives your thought time to process and prepares before responding. This commitment may take a lot of patience to adjust to, but it will be well worth it. Often times we are listening while speaking. And that makes it harder to comprehend what the other person is trying to say.

This commitment may take a lot of patience to adjust to, but it will be well worth it. As you become a better listener you will also feel more confident in speaking. The combination of listening and knowing when to be quiet is is a skill set that most definitely should be mastered. Knowing when to resist responding and being committed to silence can be a game-changer. This best practice will work for both your relationships at home and in the office.

Number Three - Be Committed to Changing

No matter how you try to sugarcoat it, you are the only thing standing in your way. The ability to decide to do something is one of the most important daily capabilities we have as humans. From the moment you wake up and open your eyes, you have a choice. How you respond when you get that disappointing news, is totally up to you. Your ability to control your emotions and make good decisions that you know will lead to positive outcomes, yep, it’s all on you. It’s easy to point blame and make excuses. Normal people do that every day. But you, my friend, are not normal.

I challenge you to take accountability for your actions and hold yourself responsible for the outcomes that you truly believe you can achieve. So Grab your simple goal setting worksheet and be committed to changing. List your 3 goals for this month. Give your self a due date for completion. Then, make a list of the top 5 things that will help you reach your goal and the steps you need to take to achieve them.

Physically add this to your calendar and set reminders or notifications if it helps. You can do it! Just be committed!
