Don't Compare Your Chapter 1 to Their Chapter 20!

So let's be honest. How's your business development really going? Do you feel like you are suffering from imposter syndrome? Or maybe you just keep running in circles trying to do all the things to jump-start your business?

Honestly I never even heard of imposter syndrome until this year. The feeling of comparison and passion combined with the lack of belief in yourself is a real thing.

The best remedy for this is to simply change your MIND. You can do anything you want, you just have to buckle down, be committed, and do the work. Starting your own business requires more than purchasing a fancy logo and posting cute photos with clever captions on social media. It takes a complete Mindset Makeover combined with a strong work ethic. Do you have the patience to sit down and do the work each and every day?

Here are 5 CEO level Best Practices that will help you create daily routines so you can run your business.

Exceptional Work Ethic

This may be a bit different if you are still working your full time job, however, it does require the same amount of due diligence. Create a weekly schedule for your business that completely outlines all the areas that need to be worked on daily. Use your Simple Goal Setting Worksheet to define the goals you need to accomplish for the month and then add the individual tasks to your calendar.

Project Management Planning

Each goal that you set for yourself requires work to be completed. It’s cool to see the big picture, but there are several steps to make it to the finish line. Managing tasks and holding yourself accountable can be overwhelming, but you have to do it. There is no one better to do the job than you. Even if you outsource your tasks and let the experts do the work, you need to know the in’s and outs so you can set the expectation for the results you want to receive.

Be a Clear Communicator

Don’t be afraid of being a straight forward communicator. It’s imperative that you understand everything you need and or want to be done. Also, learn to properly use technology to provide clear concise messaging about what you do and how you run your business. Being the CEO also means setting the tone and having the confidence to communicate and provide direction to anyone. Remember respectful communication and genuine kindness go a long way.

Learn to Listen

As your business grows the pace of your normal day to day responsibilities increases. It is imperative to pay close attention and learn to listen carefully. The ability to decipher what is quality feedback or productive conversation will be extremely imperative. Be prepared. Be confident but this is where you really need to buckle down and learn to listen. Some distractions are for your benefit and others are just simply noise. Always ask yourself, what is the intention of this conversation, meeting, or project and stick to it. If the answers don’t align with what you are looking to accomplish then you know it won’t be profitable.

Confident, Not Cocky

One of the most admirable traits of a good leader is being confidently humble. So talk about your business and smile while doing so! Be proud of your hard work and don’t be afraid to let your light shine while tooting your own horn every now and then. Just make sure to always make time to help lead others. No matter what you do when you are doing well and feeling good about yourself and your business, people will always have something to say. Learn to take each negative moment with stride and always, always rise high!
