Take Risks That Allows Room for Growth

Trying to fit in when you were born to stand out could take a lifetime to achieve. The truth is, it’s impossible. So why do we care so much about what others think and expect of us?

Throughout my career in retail, I always thought that if I had the best work ethic, if I were the kindest, most thoughtful manager then that would put me in a position to be promoted and appreciated. Boy was I wrong.

In reality, the lack of understanding of my gifts and talents on a deeper level left me overworked, unappreciated, and feeling misunderstood more so than ever.

I spent over 25 years working in a field that I was good at but it wasn’t where I was designed to survive. I was slowly fading away. The feeling of being misplaced and misunderstood can be tough and unhealthy period.

It took me some time, but once stepped out of my comfort zone and committed to changing my lifestyle and future, I finally realized my purpose. Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable and take a risk that allows room for growth and pushes you to be and do more.

One of my biggest mistakes was not believing in myself sooner. At 49 I've finally felt a sense of freedom from all of my bad decisions and terrible thought processes. How are your thoughts controlling you? Is it your thoughts that are holding you back from starting your business? Ever thought that you may be the culprit who is talking YOU out of changing your future?

It's so easy to get discouraged by the pressure of being “accepted” or appearing to have everything together and be “successful” in life. Especially today, with a million platforms pressuring us to compare ourselves to one another. It is a daily debilitating need for approval and a never-ending competition. Who’s post is getting the most likes. Is your business MORE successful than mine? How come I can’t have what they have? These questions are all wrong. It’s time to trust your gifts and do what will allow change to occur and what makes room for growth and change in our lives.

I had to change this thought process. I was spending too much time on the things that would meet the standards of others just to be approved by everyone else, which I postponed on my own success.

Do you ever feel like your dream is so big and no one on the planet can even understand what you're dealing with? Feeling misplaced and misunderstood is a tough place (unhealthy too) to live or work in period. The truth is there's a lot of dreamers out there who have big ideas and big goals and their hearts are full of ambition and drive. So what you have to do is separate yourself from the negative (thoughts and behaviors) and connect with like-minded people who have the same intentions and goals as you do.

It took me some time, but once stepped out of my comfort zone and committed to changing my lifestyle and future, I finally realized my purpose. Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable and take a risk that allows room for growth and pushes you to be and do more.

I realized that my Idea for my Business was a service that many people needed, my vision then became crystal clear. So I encourage you to stay focused on what your gifts and talents And expertise Offer to the world. You're not helping anyone By holding your Gift In. Just recently I watched an old video that I created four years ago And felt proud that my message and my intention were still the same even though the way that we communicate may have grown. Technology Shouldn't change your voice it just allows it to be heard in different Different ways.

I remember when I turned 40 almost 10 years ago and I thought man “what am I waiting for?”. I was so busy trying to live up to the standards of the “Jones”, I never once thought about my self-purpose. It was like all of a sudden I started to feel as if I was too old and it was too late for me to even think about changing my career, making new choices, and starting completely over. But this decade of growth as I journey towards 50 has shown me that I can do anything that I set my mind to. I just had to dig a little bit deeper.

Sometimes we forget to tap into who we are and what it is that we truly want from life. Starting a business is a vulnerable thing and not very many people survive the pressure of putting themselves out there and the possibility of failure for many is not even up for discussion. But let’s just say you are not like most people who never tap into their purpose. Maybe, you are on the edge of doing something that will completely change your future and your grandchildren’s children’s future. I’m talking about generational change. It’s a huge risk to take, but the change you could create is priceless. So no matter what age you are, consider the change you can make. You have to just keep going.

Step Number One - Find out what brings you great joy to do daily and what you would happily do for free.

Step Number Two - Do your research and trust that you are a solution to someone's problem.

Step Number Three - Be prepared to take a risk and put yourself out there. No matter what the results may be.

Understanding your greatness and then tapping into what makes you happy, may not enter your mind like a great epiphany. Just take your time. If it brings you joy and it's something that you would do and offer to the world freely, then it is a true gift.

Now take a moment and think about all the times you got paid to do something that you don't even like to do. Your greatness and talent and God-given gifts are meant to be shared. Why don't you start taking time to identify your greatness and strive to do and be great at it every day?

Your gift has no expiration. So when you have a birthday or an anniversary or it's Mother's Day, you always get a gift from somebody sometimes you get flowers or even a new dress. But I want to talk to you about the gift that is Built inside of you that has no expiration.

So whether you are 15 and decide to set up that Food drive for The students in the school who can't afford lunch. Or you're 65 and you write your first book about Overcoming fear. Your gift has no expiration, It's something that you get to use and Implement every single day of your life. So the choice Of how often or how much or what you do with your gift is totally up to you. I just encourage you to Open that gift now and then and Embrace The opportunity To create something amazing.

Be inspired -

I understand that being comfortable and secure and Satisfied is a Way to maintain Your sanity. But what if I told you Just by stepping a little bit out of your comfort zone and getting uncomfortable could change your entire perspective? The funny thing is You can easily stay comfortable Because It allows you to remain the same.

Now is not the time to be afraid of change. Until you step out of your comfort zone, you will always believe that comfortable is enough and you'll never know how much more it could be. I challenge you to get uncomfortable And start taking risks that will change your future for the best.
